Acting on the police commissioner’s festival-season drug crackdown orders and an informer’s tip about a narcotics-laden pickup, Sigra police under inspector Shivakant Mishra cordoned off the old iron tank area at Pachpedwa and stopped a suspicious goods pickup whose driver tried to flee.[1] Under ten sacks of cattle feed the team found 30 packets of cannabis weighing 31.275 kg, valued at Rs 15 lakh.[1]

The driver, Rajkishore Gaur of Nawada in Bihar’s Buxar district — spelt God in parts of the report — is described as a longtime interstate smuggler moving narcotics across the border under animal-feed cover, whose strong smell masks cannabis.[1] He said the consignment was meant for festival-time sale.[1] He was to be sent to jail on Thursday.[1]
