The Muzaffarpur unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, working with the Bihar Special Task Force, ran a joint operation against a racket moving Nepal-origin charas into India for onward transport to Indore in Madhya Pradesh.[1][2] After five days of continuous surveillance in remote areas along the Indo-Nepal border, the team got a specific input on Friday about a charas store in Raxaul and the presence of the alleged mastermind.[1]

A coordinated search in the early hours of Saturday recovered ten packets of charas, a cannabis-based narcotic, weighing 5.14 kg and valued at about Rs 5.14 crore.[1] Two men including the suspected mastermind were arrested on the spot under the NDPS Act, officials said the same day.[1][2] A later analysis of Bihar’s drug routes cites the case as an example of the state serving as a corridor for narcotics moving between regions.[2] The bust was announced on Saturday evening.[1]
