Guerrero state prosecutors said soldiers, National Guard officers and state
police arrested two people in flagrante, caught in the act, in Taxco de Alarcón
on 30 October 2026.[1] The two were Edgar “N”, known as “El 77”, and Inés “N”.[2] Officers stopped their pickup on the Libramiento Ahuehuepan, a bypass road,
after the occupants tried to evade a patrol and were intercepted metres further
on.[1] Both were handed to the Ministerio Público, the prosecutor’s office
that will open the investigation and decide their legal situation.[1] Both are
presumed innocent until a judge rules.[2]
Officers found about a kilogram of green, dry herb resembling marijuana in the
vehicle, along with 19 wrapped packets of the same herb and two tactical vests.[1] The pickup, a 2015 model in navy blue, had a current theft report in
Guerrero.[2]
State prosecutors identified the pair as alleged members of La Familia
Michoacana’s cell in Taxco de Alarcón.[1] MVS Noticias described the arrests
as a targeted blow to the group’s operating structure in Guerrero’s northern
region.[2] Infobae reported that the FGE gave no further details about its
investigation into the group.[3]

Open questions the AI reported
- The reports give no separate date or time for the arrest; 30 October 2026 is the date on the FGE Guerrero statement, and both news reports were published on 31 October.
- No weight was given for the 19 wrapped packets of marijuana, and no street value was put on the seizure.
- No charges, court date or ruling were reported; the FGE said only that the Ministerio Público would decide the pair's legal situation.
- Infobae's headline and photo captions refer to "armas", but neither the FGE statement nor the text of either report lists a firearm among the seized items.
- Infobae's headline ties the arrest to La Familia Michoacana's mass kidnapping in Tierra Caliente, but no source says the two detainees are suspected in that case.
- Both news reports draw on the FGE Guerrero statement, so they do not independently confirm its account.
