Officers of the Guardia Civil Estatal, San Luis Potosí’s state civil guard, detained a man identified only as José “N”, aged 31, in Ciudad Valles.[1] They identified him as a suspected priority target and a probable member of a criminal group, and said he was linked to narcomenudeo, the small-scale sale of drugs.[1] The detention was reported under the deployment called Huasteca Segura, which the guard said it was running in Ciudad Valles within a wider security strategy and deployments across the state’s four regions, together with surveillance in the Altiplano.[1]

From José “N” the officers seized doses of marijuana, doses of a substance with characteristics similar to crystal, and metal artefacts known as ponchallantas.[1] The guard described the detentions and seizures from that deployment as relevant.[1] The state Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection said it was maintaining prevention, surveillance and intelligence operations to fight criminal activity and contribute to the calm of families in San Luis Potosí.[2]
