An operational team of Special Response Battalion-14 arrested a couple with 06 kg of ganja at Ashekpur Bypass Mor on the Dhaka-Tangail highway under Tangail Sadar at about 04:05 on 2 November 2026.[1] Those arrested were 35-year-old Farhad Mia and 21-year-old Mosammat Tanzina, both of Cumilla district.[1] The operation followed a tip that drugs were being smuggled by passengers disguised as travellers on a Chattogram-to-Dinajpur Shyamoli NR bus.[1] On that information, CPC-3 of SRB-14 Tangail set up a checkpoint in the Ashekpur Bypass area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway.[2] Officers stopped the bus late at night, searched it, and detained the couple travelling as passengers.[1]

In front of witnesses, officers recovered 6 kg of ganja concealed in a special way inside the bag carried by the couple.[1] Officers also seized one mobile phone allegedly used for buying and selling drugs.[2]

The SRB accounts say the husband and wife had long collected illegal ganja from border areas and other parts of the country and sold it in different places.[1] A case was filed at Tangail Sadar Police Station and the detainees were handed over there with the seized material for legal action.[1]
