Police in Kaliganj detained 28-year-old Rashida Begum after recovering 4 kg of ganja during a midday anti-drug raid in Gobindakati village on 2 November 2026.[1][2] A second suspect, Jahangir Alam (Moni), fled the scene after sensing the police presence.[1] Police identified Rashida Begum as the wife of the late Johar Ali of Gobindapur village.[1][3]

Acting on a secret tip-off, a Kaliganj police team led by Sub-Inspector Sabbir Ahmed raided the area in front of an old house on the south side of Jahangir’s residence.[1][3] The raid took place at about 12 noon in Gobindakati village of Dhalbaria union in Kaliganj upazila, Satkhira.[1] Officers seized the 4 kg of ganja at that spot before taking the woman into custody.[1][2]

Kaliganj police station chief Md. Sheikh Shahinur Rahman said police were working to build a drug- and militancy-free environment across the upazila’s 12 unions.[1] He said operations against drug traders, terrorist activity and other unlawful activity would continue.[1]

A sub-inspector filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act as complainant over the seizure.[2]
