Boalia Model Police detained three people in Rajshahi, including the
construction firm’s site engineer, after recovering 48 kg of ganja from a
workers’ room.[1] The raid took place at about 3:30 pm on Sunday, 1 November,
in a workers’ tin-shed room in a Sarkar Builders under-construction building in
Upashahar Sector 2.[1][2] Police named the detained men as 24-year-old Sohir
Islam of Bagdhani, 20-year-old Rayhan of Palpur Dharampur, and another Rayhan of
Chanduria who worked as Sarkar Builders’ site engineer.[1]
Officers said they acted on secret information and broke the lock after those
inside first refused to open the door for a search.[1] Inside, officers found
12 packets holding a total of 48 kg of ganja in two sacks.[1] Police said the
consignment had arrived by truck in three sacks, with one sack already sold and
the remaining two intended to be moved elsewhere.[1]
The three were taken to Boalia Model Police Station for questioning, with police
saying further legal steps would follow after investigation and interrogation.[1] Police said the site engineer was among the three and had been called from
his home.[1] The site engineer was handcuffed while being taken to the
station, but police gave no detailed explanation of his suspected link to the
consignment.[1] Attempts to reach Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Additional
Commissioner Gaziur Rahman by phone for comment were unsuccessful.[1]
Police filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act at Boalia police station against the two arrested men and the absconders.[2] The two arrested men were sent to jail through the court on Monday morning, while operations to arrest the absconders continue.[2] Officers also seized two mobile phones used for drug sales, and Biplab Ali with two to three other suspects fled on seeing the police.[2] The second account names the two arrested men as 27-year-old Sajib of Bagdhani and 20-year-old Rayhan of Palpur Dharampur and places the raid at Holding No. 49 in Sector-2.[3]

- The detentions are reported as detention and questioning, and whether formal arrests, charges or a court outcome followed is not reported.
- The consignment's origin, the buyers of the already-sold sack and its intended destination were not established.
- The reason the site engineer was suspected of links to the consignment is unexplained in the source.
- The 48 kg figure is the police count from 12 packets in two sacks, with no independent weighing reported.
- The page's lead photograph carries no descriptive caption, so whether it shows this seizure could not be independently established.
- The new accounts report two arrests plus absconders while the existing report records three detentions including a site engineer, and the arrest figure is therefore left out here.
- The Bagdhani man is reported as 24-year-old Sohir Islam in the earlier account and 27-year-old Sajib son of Abdur Razzaq in the new accounts, and whether this is variant reporting of one person is unresolved.
