Naogaon District Detective Branch (DB) police arrested four alleged drug traders in separate raids across Manda, Sadar and Badalgachhi upazilas, sub-districts of Naogaon District.[1] The four were identified as Arif Hossain, 30, of Raghunathpur in Manda, Mosharraf, 33, of Sherpur Kuralipara in Mohadevpur, and brothers Shilong, 23, and Arafat, 23, of Badalgachhi.[1] Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tarikul Islam announced the arrests at a press briefing at his Naogaon office on Sunday, 1 November.[1]

Acting on a tip about a large stock stored for sale in Manda, officers raided Arif Hossain’s house in Raghunathpur village late Saturday night and recovered 20 kg of ganja from a steel trunk.[1] Information from Arif led officers to a rented house in Naogaon Sadar, where they arrested Mosharraf and recovered another 2 kg kept under a bed.[1] Information from Mosharraf then led to Badalgachhi, where police arrested Shilong and Arafat and recovered a further 2 kg from them.[1]

The cannabis raids ran from Saturday into 8:30 a.m. Sunday and were carried out by a Detective Branch team on the superintendent’s orders.[1] Police said district anti-drug drives of this kind would continue.[1]
