Sohag centre detectives carried out intensive security campaigns in villages and areas under the centre’s jurisdiction.[1] In Qalfaw and El-Omra, officers detained two people found among crops with automatic rifles, live ammunition, quantities of hashish and cash.[1] In another move in the same area, officers detained one person holding quantities of shabu and hashish, a firearm and cash.[1] In Wanina Gharbia, officers detained two people holding a large quantity of drugs, a firearm and cash.[1] In Edfa, officers detained one person holding 70 Tamol tablets, cash, a bladed weapon and a reported stolen motorcycle.[1] In El-Ghawanem, officers detained two people holding a firearm, live ammunition and quantities of hashish.[1]

The sweeps netted firearms, ammunition, drug quantities, tablets, cash and a reported stolen motorcycle.[1]

The moves came on the Sohag security director’s orders to intensify security presence and pursue suspects in arms possession and drug trafficking.[1] The head of the centre’s investigations led the campaigns with investigation officers.[1] Officers completed the required legal procedures for those detained in preparation for presenting them to the competent investigation authorities.[1]
