Police in Mutubas in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate arrested a 59-year-old man described as a dangerous repeat offender.[1] The suspect was identified only as “Kh. M.” and had previously been accused in several drugs and weapons cases.[1] Investigators said confidential information indicated he was trading in drugs and holding unlicensed firearms.[1] Officers detained him at prepared fixed and mobile ambushes while he was driving his private pickup truck, which police said he used in criminal activity.[1]

A search of the man and the vehicle found an automatic rifle, a number of rounds, about one kilogram of hashish and cash described as proceeds of sale.[1] The seizures were impounded and the case was recorded as Mutubas Centre Felony No. 14229 of 2026.[1] It was referred to the Public Prosecution to conduct the investigations.[1]

The operation was carried out by the Mutubas police investigations unit led by Major Ahmed Yousry under the supervision of criminal-investigation director Major General Mohamed El-Husseini.[1]
