Guardia Civil Estatal, San Luis Potosí’s state civil guard, arrested two men described as priority targets in Matehuala and Ciudad Fernández.[1][2] The force said both were suspected of criminal activity that affects families’ safety and property.[3][4]

In Matehuala, officers detained Héctor N., 40, with about twelve small bags of marijuana, 15 ponchallantas — metal spikes used to puncture vehicle tyres — and a vehicle.[1][2] Intelligence reports linked him to extortion, cobro de piso (protection payments) and drug distribution, possibly for a criminal group, Pulso reported.[1]

In a separate operation in Ciudad Fernández, officers detained Ricardo N., 42, who is from the State of Mexico and has prior police records.[1][2] He was carrying 320 marijuana cigarettes, the force said.[3][2] The force called him a priority target over suspected drug sales and distribution.[1]

The Guardia Civil Estatal said it maintains an operational presence in all four regions of San Luis Potosí.[3][2] It said the detentions contributed to its fight against extortion and narcomenudeo, the small-scale sale of drugs.[1]

The Guardia Civil Estatal said both men and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, which would determine their legal situation.[2]
