Slovenian police, with Europol and agencies across Europe, dismantled two
international drug-smuggling networks in separate investigations, one
ending in 34 arrests and multi-tonne seizures.[1]
The four-year probe into an organisation spanning Slovenia, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain and the Netherlands ended on 6 October 2026
with 42 properties searched in Slovenia and Spain; 34 suspects were held
in Slovenia plus one each in Spain and Croatia, on top of 11 detained
earlier.[1][2] Six criminal groups moved cocaine, cannabis,
amphetamine, MDMA and methamphetamine in commercial freight using
encrypted chats; over three tonnes of cannabis, 700 kg of cocaine and
100 kg of heroin were seized overall, with 51 kg of cannabis taken on the
action day and 404 kg intercepted during the probe.[1][2] A Ljubljana
court remanded 13 suspects and put two under house arrest.[1]
