State Police arrested a man in Sinopoli on suspicion of possessing drugs for the purpose of dealing.[1] Officers arrested him in the act during a home search and then detained him in Palmi prison.[1] The operation involved officers from the Palmi police station, supported by Crime Prevention Department crews and two canine units specialised in searching for weapons, explosives and drugs.[1]

During the home search in Sinopoli, police found 8 kg and 120 g of marijuana inside a dwelling available to the man.[1] Part of the marijuana was kept in a large plastic sack and part was spread on a sheet on the floor and left to dry ahead of distribution.[1]

The seizure formed part of an extraordinary territorial-control operation covering two pre-Aspromonte municipalities in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria.[1] During that operation, police set up 10 checkpoints, identified 205 people and checked 144 vehicles, while also carrying out several searches and recording four road-traffic violations.[1]
