Avellino’s Squadra Mobile officers arrested a 23-year-old man from Avellino in flagrante during checks in the city.[1] The arrest followed controls and identifications of numerous young people in districts of Avellino frequented by people with previous police records.[1][2] The arrests were part of a vast national operation conducted over the previous two weeks against offences committed by young people, including minors.[1]

During the checks, officers found the 23-year-old carrying 50 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of hashish, together with 850 euros in cash.[1][2] Police seized the cocaine, the hashish and the cash reported in the drug case.[1] Of the drugs in the case, only the 100 grams of hashish is counted here as cannabis, while the 50 grams of cocaine is excluded from the cannabis figure.[1]

The national operation targeted young people, including minors, involved individually or in groups in crimes against persons and property and in weapons and drugs matters.[3]
