Reggio Calabria’s Squadra Mobile, the city’s mobile detective branch, arrested eight adults during extraordinary checks targeting youth crime.[1] Six of them were arrested for crimes against the person and property, resistance and insult to public officials, mafia-type association, drug trafficking and production and other drug offences, and illegal possession of weapons of war, ammunition and explosives.[1] The other two were arrested for production, trafficking, trade and unlawful possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances.[1] Seven young people were reported at liberty for crimes against the person, property and drug offences.[1] Authorities also imposed two orders to report to the judicial police and issued three oral warnings.[1]

Officers carried out 16 personal and home searches that led to the drug and weapon seizure.[1] The searches seized about 10 kg of marijuana and 37 grams of hashish, together with 3.5 grams of cocaine and a pistol.[1] The 3.5 grams of cocaine are a separate non-cannabis substance and are not counted in the cannabis quantity.[2]

Police identified and checked 103 minors during the operation.[1]
