Special agents of Paraguay’s anti-drug agency SENAD, from the regional office at Salto del Guairá, searched a rural property at Maracaná, in the department of Canindeyú, and seized 1,753 kilograms of cannabis, local outlets reported on 30 September 2026.[1][2][3]

Hidden in a wooded part of the property were 478 kilograms of marijuana pressed into brick-shaped bales ready for sale, together with 1,275 kilograms of chopped marijuana in 51 large sacks, showing the site worked as a collection and pre-processing point; under the direction of anti-narcotics prosecutor Juan Benegas, the fiscal-police team weighed samples in the field and moved the evidence to the regional base for its definitive weighing and custody.[2][3]

Those responsible for the stash fled when the agents arrived and nobody was arrested; the seizure is suspected to have hit a supply point feeding the drug market across the border in Brazil, and the investigation continues to identify the property’s owners and the logistics network behind the load.[1][2]
