Officers of Paraguay’s National Directorate of Tax Revenue (DNIT) found the
parcels during checks of express courier cargo at Silvio Pettirossi
International Airport, in the cargo depot of the national civil aviation
authority (DINAC), on 30 October 2026.[1] One shipment from Miami held 6 kg of
suspected marijuana, hidden in packets inside two packs of paediatric wet wipes.[2] A second check at the depot known as Ticket 1 found four parcels with 46.5
kg of suspected ketamine, vacuum-sealed and concealed in boxes for printers.[1]
The four ketamine parcels were consigned to different recipients, and neither
account gave further details about them.[2] Together the two finds amounted to
52.5 kg of suspected drugs, Diario HOY reported.[2] The National Anti-Drug
Secretariat (SENAD), Paraguay’s anti-drug agency, took charge of both
procedures, and officers drew up formal records of what was found.[1]
The DNIT said it keeps checking goods that enter Paraguay through express
courier services, to detect irregularities and put them before the competent
authorities.[1]

Open questions the AI reported
- Neither account named a suspect or said whether anyone was detained over the two shipments.
- The DNIT statement and Diario HOY give no separate date for the inspections; 30 October 2026 is the date of the statement and of the newspaper's report.
- The 52.5 kg total includes 46.5 kg of suspected ketamine, which is not cannabis; the cannabis figure is the 6 kg of suspected marijuana.
- The DNIT headline speaks of more than 50 kg of suspected substances while Diario HOY gives 52.5 kg for the two procedures; this report uses 52.5 kg.
- Both accounts call the substances presuntas (presumed) and neither reports a laboratory result, a street value or what happened to the parcels after the inspections.
- The only accounts opened are the agency's own statement and one newspaper report, so the details rest on the DNIT's version.
- Diario HOY's related-links list and the DNIT news page describe a separate find of marijuana hidden among toys; that is a different event and is not covered here.
