At about 07:30 on Thursday 26 March 2026, special agents of Paraguay’s SENAD were conducting
preventive checks on vehicles, people and cargo in Colonia Estrella, in Pedro Juan Caballero.[1]
They spotted a pickup whose occupants fled down a side road when they noticed the patrol, leaving
the vehicle behind with the illicit load.[2][1]
Inside the abandoned truck, officers counted 1,505 packages of pressed marijuana with a total
weight of 1,443 kg.[2][1] SENAD seized the cargo and the Toyota Hilux used to move it; ABC Color
describes a Hilux without a visible plate.[2][1]
Preliminary inquiries suggested the shipment was headed for Brazil.[2][1] Fiscal agent Celso
Morales of the public prosecutor’s office accompanied the operation and ordered the evidence secured
for investigation.[2][1]
The drugs and vehicle were taken to the regional SENAD base in Pedro Juan Caballero for weighing and
custody.[1]
