In Saturday raids across the state, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the West Bengal Special Task Force arrested five people from an area under Nimta police station in North 24 Parganas and seized around 90 kg of cannabis valued at about Rs 44.5 lakh.[1] Officers also confiscated Rs 5 lakh in cash and three vehicles.[1]

Preliminary investigation suggests two of the arrested men are Odisha residents who had allegedly come to supply the cannabis, while the other three are accused of possessing and consuming narcotics, police sources said.[1] The STF has opened investigations to trace the source and destination of the load and identify others in the network.[1] The same article pairs this case with a separate Bagdogra seizure of 1 kg of brown sugar, a heroin-class drug outside this tracker’s scope.[1] The article’s photograph is credited IANS/representative rather than to the scene, so no image is listed.[1]
