Federal Police officers arrested a woman in flagrante (caught in the act) as she disembarked at Presidente Castro Pinto International Airport in João Pessoa, Paraíba, carrying about 3.3 kg of cannabis.[1] The drug was packed in six tablets, hidden in her hand luggage and fixed to her body.[2] Officers found it during a routine inspection at the airport aimed at interstate trafficking.[2] She had flown from Manaus, in Amazonas, with a stopover in Rio de Janeiro before reaching the Paraíba capital.[1]

Police took her to the Federal Police’s regional superintendency in João Pessoa, where the flagrant arrest was recorded.[2] She was then sent to the state prison system, where she remains at the disposal of the courts.[1] The case was registered as drug trafficking and will be investigated by the competent authorities.[1]

The Federal Police did not name the woman or give other details of the investigation.[1] The force also did not say whether it was investigating where the cannabis came from or where it was going, or give the exact date of the arrest.[3]
