From 29 September through 3 October 2026, Illinois State Police ran a violent-crime
suppression detail across Iroquois, Kankakee and McLean counties.[1][2]The operation
produced 22 arrests, 23 felony charges, one recovered firearm, 22,371 grams of cannabis
and nine grams of other controlled substances, the department said in a 7 October release.[1][2]
On 30 September a trooper stopped a driver in McLean County, smelled raw cannabis and
found two large bags of flower and cannabis products plus a loaded illegal firearm; the
driver went to McLean County Jail.[1]On 1 October another McLean stop of four occupants
yielded three bags with one-pound cannabis packages, other cannabis products, cocaine and
methamphetamine; all four were arrested.[1]
Patrol troops, investigators, air operations and interdiction teams from several regions
supported the detail, ISP said.[1]
The release aggregates all cannabis seized during the detail and does not split the 22,371 grams between the two highlighted traffic stops and other cases.
Waynesville police seized more than $56,000 worth of THC products said to have been sold or given to middle and high school children, arresting one person. Police said many items contained marijuana or THC extracts in youth-friendly packaging and warned parents about their appearance.

Mississippi officers stopped an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20 in Rankin County on 29 October 2026 and seized about 1,959 pounds of marijuana alongside cocaine. Driver Yohannes Haile and co-driver Befikadu Belayneh were arrested and charged with trafficking and taken to the Rankin County Detention Center.
Three people were detained after a go-fast boat was intercepted in the Eastern Pacific with 2,504 pounds of marijuana. A US task force said it supported an unnamed partner nation; a separate cocaine seizure the day before is not counted here.
