Three people were detained after a go-fast boat carrying marijuana was intercepted in the Eastern Pacific.[1][2][3] The Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS), a US task force, said it helped authorities from a partner nation detect, monitor and support the interception.[1][2] JIATFS announced the result on 29 October 2026.[4][2][3] It said the seizure was 2,504 pounds of marijuana, about 1,136 kilograms.[4][2]

It described itself as an alliance of 20 international partners and 13 domestic partners.[4][2] In this case its published role was detection, monitoring and support alongside the unnamed partner.[4]

The marijuana interception was one of two separate Eastern Pacific actions reported together.[1][2] The other, announced on 28 October, was a Costa Rica Coast Guard recovery of about 70 floating packages, about 3,675 pounds of cocaine, near Costa Rica, with a US maritime patrol aircraft and JIATFS helping to locate the cargo.[1][2] The two seizures together were put at about 6,179 pounds, about 2,803 kilograms, of narcotics.[4][2]
