Police in Bayındır, a district of İzmir province in western Turkey, raided a house.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The owner of the house was detained.[1][2][3][5]

Officers found 3 kilo 59 gram of esrar, 2 kilo 744 gram of cannabis seeds and 10 cannabis plants, all seized, at the property.[7][2][3][4][5][6] The search covered the house and its outbuilding, which belong to the suspect.[7][3][4][8][6] Esrar is the Turkish term for cannabis, and Hint keneviri is the Turkish name for the cannabis plant.[7] The search was carried out by teams from the Ödemiş narcotics crimes bureau and the Bayındır district police department.[7][3][4][8][6] The teams acted on an address in Bayındır identified in advance.[9][4][8]

The operation was part of work against the trade in and use of drugs in the district.[9][4][8] The suspect was held in gözaltı, Turkish police custody, and was to be sent in person to the judicial authorities after processing at the police station.[7][3][4]
