Police in the Balıkesir city centre detained two people in two separate narcotics operations.[1][2] The operations took place on 30 October 2026.[3][2] Both suspects were held in gözaltı, the police custody in which a person is kept for questioning while prosecutors decide whether to bring charges or release them.[1] They were processed for manufacturing and trading narcotic substances.[1][2]

The searches turned up 1 kg 254 g of skunk, a high-potency cannabis preparation that Turkish police reports also call esrar.[1][2] Officers also seized 61.84 g of liquid synthetic cannabinoid, known in Turkey as bonzai, 42 synthetic pills, 7.06 g of powdered bonzai, 6.75 g of cannabis seed and 1.29 g of methamphetamine.[1][3] A precision scale and a cannabis grinder were found as well.[1][2]

The operations were run by the narcotics crimes branch of the Balıkesir provincial police directorate, the Narkotik Suçlarla Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğü, the unit that investigates drug supply in the province.[1][2] Police had identified both suspects as drug traders before the operations, the Demirören news agency (DHA) reported.[3][2]
