The National Gendarmerie’s Service for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in Algiers dismantled two cross-border criminal networks on 4 November 2026, Algeria’s defence ministry said.[1][2] The ministry reported that the operation led to the arrest of 33 drug traffickers, including one minor.[1][2]

The operation seized 176 kilograms of kif traité, a processed cannabis product.[3][2] The cannabis formed one component of a wider haul that also included cocaine and psychotropic tablets.[1] The operation also included seizure of 21 utility vehicles.[4]

The ministry placed the action within Algeria’s national strategy for preventing drugs and narcotics.[1] It said the operation continued the armed forces’ efforts to fight drug traffickers and illicit drug trafficking.[1] The ministry described the armed forces as determined to confront these networks with firmness and perseverance.[1] It said authorities would intensify their work to dismantle and thwart criminal networks.[1] The ministry said those efforts would help reinforce citizens’ security and the country’s stability.[1]
