Excise officials booked farmer Kodapa Jyotiram of Kolamguda after finding cannabis plants growing in his field on the village outskirts.[1] Officers registered a case against Jyotiram and produced him before the court.[1]
A joint team of excise officials and the task force searched agricultural fields at Kolamguda, which falls under Waghapur panchayat in Mavala mandal of Adilabad district, on Tuesday.[1] The team found cannabis, locally called ganja, growing as an intercrop among cotton and kandi crops in Jyotiram’s field.[1] Adilabad excise station house officer Akula Srinivas said officers seized 62 cannabis plants from the field.[1]
The search party included trainee circle inspector Devender alongside excise officials Sravan Kumar, Thanaji, Krishna, Shivakumar, Madhu, Naresh, Gautham and Swapna, among others.[1] The holding was Jyotiram’s own field at the village edge, where standing cotton and kandi crops had concealed the cannabis intercrop.[1] A panchayat is a village-level council and a mandal is a block-level administrative unit, the tiers that place Kolamguda within Waghapur and Mavala.[1]
