Police detained Narayan Kisan Vyavahare, a 70-year-old farmer associated with a farm in Ratanwadi village, in connection with illegal cannabis cultivation.[1][2][3][4] Manora Police registered a case under relevant sections of the law and began further investigation.[1][3] Investigators are trying to establish how long the cultivation had been taking place and whether other individuals or gangs were involved.[1] Police are also examining the purpose of the cultivation, whether the marijuana was intended for sale, and possible links to a wider drug network.[1]

The raid followed a tip-off about illegal cannabis cultivation in a field in Ratanwadi village of Manora tehsil in Washim district, Maharashtra.[1][2][4] Police formed a joint team of police and revenue department personnel to act on the information.[1] The team was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Manish Thackeray, Station House Officer Naina Pohekar and Tehsildar Rajendra Patil.[1][3][4] The joint team then raided the farm and uncovered the cannabis cultivation.[1]

During the operation, police recovered and seized a total of 15 kg and 225 grams of marijuana.[1][2][3][4] Police put the estimated market value of the seized contraband at Rs 2,26,500.[1][2][4] The case was registered on the accused farmer’s statement, and police said more details would emerge as the investigation progresses.[1]
