A joint team of Aceh provincial police, Polda Aceh, and the Aceh provincial National Narcotics Agency, BNNP Aceh, destroyed fields of ganja, the Indonesian term for cannabis, in six districts of Aceh.[1][2] The destruction ran over two days, 31 October and 1 November 2026.[1][2] The fields lay in the police jurisdictions of Aceh Besar, Pidie, Lhokseumawe, Aceh Timur, Bener Meriah and Nagan Raya.[3][2]

Police said the cleared fields covered 104.86 hectares in total.[4][2] Officers uprooted and destroyed 157,290 cannabis plants.[3][2] Police estimated the weight of the destroyed plants at 78.645 tonnes.[3][2] Public relations chief Kombes Pol. Joko Krisdiyanto gave the figures on behalf of the force’s narcotics director, Kombes Pol. Gazali Ahmad.[3] He gave the statement on Monday 2 November 2026.[1]

Joko said the operation was part of the national police chief’s priority programme, Polisi Bersama Masyarakat, through Quick Wins 2, which includes restoring areas used for drug crops.[3]
