After a public tip on 26 October 2026, Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) and police teams in
Mandailing Natal regency, North Sumatra, hiked about seven hours through steep mountain terrain
to cannabis plots hidden on Tor Sihite and destroyed them on 31 October.[1][2] No growers were
named or arrested in either account.[1][2]
BNNK Mandailing Natal head Syamsul Arifin said officers verified the crop during a follow-up
investigation before BNN North Sumatra ordered a joint destruction involving about 90 personnel
from provincial police, the regency BNN office, the army, local government and community
volunteers.[1] Comb Pol Josua Tampubolon of BNN North Sumatra said the team found two nearby
sites totalling five hectares—4.5 hectares plus half a hectare ten metres apart—and uprooted
about 150,000 plants before burning them on the spot.[2] AnalisaDaily put the fields at roughly
1,170 metres elevation with about 50 by 50 centimetre spacing and a preliminary estimate of
about three tonnes of potential production.[1]
The regency police chief, AKBP Bagus Priyandi, took part alongside provincial drug directors,
according to AnalisaDaily.[1] Mistar.id said the team walked about 14 hours in slippery rain
on the round trip.[2]
