Aceh provincial police and the Aceh provincial narcotics agency (BNNP Aceh)
destroyed cannabis fields across six district police jurisdictions in Aceh over
two days, from 31 October to 1 November 2026.[1] The fields were in the areas
policed by the Aceh Besar, Pidie, Lhokseumawe, Aceh Timur, Bener Meriah and
Nagan Raya district police.[1]
Officers cleared and destroyed about 104.86 hectares in the sweep.[2] The
joint teams destroyed about 157,290 cannabis plants, an estimated 78.645 tonnes
in total.[2] The provincial police’s drug directorate chief, Kombes Pol.
Gazali Ahmad, gave the figures through the spokesman.[1]
Aceh police spokesman Kombes Pol. Joko Krisdiyanto said the operation aimed to
cut the narcotics supply chain at its production source.[3] Joko said the
drive was not only about law enforcement but also about restoring former
cannabis land so it could be converted to productive use for local communities.[1] He said it formed part of the national police chief’s priority programme,
Polisi Bersama Masyarakat (Police with the Community), through its Quick Wins 2
land-recovery component.[1]
