Michael Wilson, 45, was charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis.[1] The offences were committed in Warrington on 17 December 2024, prosecutor Heather Bell told the court.[1] Wilson also had snap bags to sell cannabis in and scales to weigh the class B drug.[1] He was sentenced at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, having earlier pleaded guilty.[1] Wilson, of O’Leary Street in Orford, received eight months in prison, suspended for the next 12 months.[1]
Wilson admitted possessing a quantity of cannabis with the intention of supplying it to people in the town.[1] Magistrates found the custody threshold had been crossed because of the severity of the offence.[1] The custodial sentence was suspended, taking into account his guilty plea and his ‘realistic prospect of rehabilitation’.[1] The court noted his ‘good record in terms of no previous history of non-compliance with court orders’ and that he was not assessed as posing a risk to others.[1]
He was ordered to pay a £160 fine and a £187 victim surcharge, with an application approved for the funds to be deducted from his benefits.[1] The court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis, snap bags and scales seized by police during the investigation.[1]
