In Viterbo, the Squadra Mobile, the State Police investigative unit, with support from other Questura offices, reported eight young people at liberty, including two minors, for carrying weapons or objects capable of offending, resisting a public official, aggravated damage and threats.[1] Officers identified 155 young people in total, of whom 58 were minors.[1] Checks covered shopping centres, nightlife (movida) areas and central zones of the city of Viterbo and included two searches.[1]

The Viterbo checks formed part of a judicial-police operation carried out over the previous two weeks by the 106 Squadre Mobili across Italy, coordinated by the Servizio Centrale Operativo, the central operational service, targeting young people and minors involved alone or in groups in crimes against people and property and in weapons or drug offences.[2] Nationally, police said they checked 236,138 young people, including 23,060 minors, arrested 575 adults and 69 minors, and reported 1,695 young people at liberty, including 373 minors.[2] Nationally, police said they seized 69.4 kg of cocaine, 328.44 grams of heroin and 174.8 kg of cannabinoids, alongside smaller amounts of ecstasy, ketamine, amphetamines, Lyrica capsules and benzodiazepines.[2]
