Lecco State Police referred two people to the local Prefecture for possession after officers seized doses of hashish and marijuana during checks on youth crime.[1] Officers arrested a young person accused of aggravated theft against an elderly woman deceived through the so-called fake-carabiniere trick.[1] Another young person was reported at liberty for breaching a mandatory order banning return to the Municipality of Lecco, while two other people received the same ban on returning to the city.[1]

Officers identified 579 people in total, 456 adults and 123 minors, after intensifying controls in recent days in the city’s main gathering places, including squares, parks, shopping centres and the railway station.[2] The Mobile Squad carried out the work with other Questura offices, supported by the Lombardy Crime Prevention Department from Milan and a dog unit from the Milan Questura.[1] The gathering places were described as areas considered sensitive for crimes against persons and property as well as drug dealing and use.[1]

The Lecco operation formed part of a broad national police operation against youth crime coordinated by the central operational service and also directed at groups of minors involved in unlawful acts.[2] The Questura said prevention and control activity would continue with a constant presence across the territory to counter unlawful activity and protect residents.[1]
