Military Police officers approached two men during a patrol in Praça Duque de Caxias in Toledo, Paraná.[1] According to the police team, the two men were carrying small bags close to their bodies and were consuming alcoholic drinks at the time.[1] During the subsequent personal search, officers found 0.26 gram of cannabis sativa in the bag carried by one of the two men.[1]

When questioned, the man carrying the bag said the substance belonged to his friend, and the friend confirmed that he was its owner.[1] Officers weighed the seized drug and sealed it for the record.[1] Both men were then taken to the 4th Company of the Military Police, the local PM post, for the applicable legal procedures.[1] The police record assessed that the circumstances and the small quantity seized initially indicated that the cannabis was intended for personal consumption.[1]

Officers then issued a termo de compromisso de comparecimento, a written undertaking to appear before the authorities.[1] After that formality, both men were released.[1]
