A road crash in Techiman led to the arrest of a 48-year-old tricycle rider after police uncovered a large stash of suspected narcotics hidden inside bags of charcoal.[1][2]
Robert Tannor was riding an unregistered Motor King tricycle, an aboboyaa, carrying 14 bags of charcoal when it collided with a stationary Kia Rhino truck near Methodist Park at about 2pm on 8 March 2026.[1][2] Officers responding to the crash first found the charcoal bags, but a closer search revealed the bags concealed 397 compressed slabs of dried plant material believed to be cannabis, all retrieved at the scene.[1][2]
Tannor suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he remains under police guard while investigations continue.[1][2] The Kia truck driver fled after the crash and police are appealing for help to trace him.[1][2]
