Acting on reports of drug activity during student celebrations, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) ran an intelligence-led operation on the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) campus during the SRC Hall Week festivities of 31 July to 1 August 2026 and detained 10 people on the Friday night.[1][2] Nine of the suspects were men and one was a woman; both outlets describe the group as including KTU students.[1][2]
NACOC said the suspects were producing, distributing and selling cannabis-infused drinks and ice cream at the celebrations.[2] Officers recovered wraps of suspected cannabis along with cups of “abele” ice cream, bottles of pineapple juice, sobolo drinks, fresh palm wine and other beverages believed to have been infused with the drug.[1] Preliminary field tests on the exhibits indicated the presence of cannabis.[1]
The Commission identified 23-year-old Priscilla Tetteh as the alleged ringleader of the campus sales.[2] The 10 suspects were assisting NACOC with its investigation while officers worked to establish the full scale of the operation; no charges or court dates have been disclosed.[1]
