The Tema Regional Police Command arrested 52-year-old Ibrahim Saani for possessing 37 parcels of substances suspected to be Indian hemp at New York, near Airport Junction, at about 7 pm on Sunday 25 October 2026.[1][2] Officers acting on intelligence retrieved a bag holding the 37 compressed parcels together with a crusher.[1][2]

Saani was taken to the police station with the exhibits for investigation.[1][2] Preliminary findings suggest he may have been distributing the suspected narcotics in New York and nearby communities, and intelligence indicates he allegedly pretended to be mentally unwell to conceal his activities.[1][2] The substances will go for forensic examination, and police say Saani and any accomplices will be arraigned once investigations are complete.[1][2]
