The Anti-Narcotics Department said its branch in Aleppo Governorate carried out
several separate security operations against networks active in the trade and
promotion of narcotic substances.[1] One of the operations was conducted in
cooperation with the Road Security branch; the department said the operations
dismantled the networks and led to the arrest of a number of their members.[1]
The authorities described the drug-trading and promotion networks as the focus
of those operations, and said arrests and seizures were among the stated
outcomes.[2]
The reported seizure included 9.571 kilograms of hashish and 21 grams of
marijuana; converting 21 grams to 0.021 kilograms gives a combined cannabis
weight of 9.592 kilograms.[2] The same list included 51,000 Captagon pills and
5,430 pregabalin pills as well as a military handgun, separate items from the
hashish and marijuana quantities.[2] The agency said those arrested were
referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and take the
necessary legal measures against them.[1]
