Syria’s Drug Enforcement Department said one of its security patrols, working
with border guard forces, foiled an attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics
and alcohol from Lebanese territory.[1] The department said the shipment was
seized in an ambush before it reached its destination.[2] The patrol arrested
the smuggler and seized 24 kg of hashish and 113 bottles of smuggled alcohol.[1]
The statement named the detained man only by the initials Y. M.[3] The hashish
and the bottles were found in his possession, the department said.[2] It
described the bottles as smuggled intoxicating liquor.[2] The department said
the whole shipment was confiscated.[2] The suspect was referred to the
competent authorities to complete the investigation and take legal measures
against him.[3]
The department announced the interception on its Telegram channel on Friday 25
September 2026.[1] It said officers had monitored the route the shipment would
take before the patrol moved in.[1]
