Egypt’s Interior Ministry said its security services arrested two people accused of promoting drugs while riding a motorcycle in a street in Suez governorate, after a video documenting the incident circulated on social media.[1][2] The video showed the pair on the motorcycle promoting drugs in one of the city’s streets.[3][2] The ministry said officers established the circumstances of the footage after it circulated online.[4][5][2] Police said both had criminal records and lived in the Arba’een police station district.[1][6][5][2]

Officers identified the two people shown in the video and arrested them, the ministry said.[4][5][2] The motorcycle used in the incident, which had no licence plates, was found with them, along with a quantity of the drugs strox and hashish.[1][6][5][2]

Police held the motorcycle and took the required legal measures, the ministry said.[3][6][5][2]

When questioned, the two admitted committing the offence and said they held the seized drugs for trafficking, the ministry said.[6][2]

The Public Prosecution took over the investigation, the ministry said.[5]
