Security forces in Sohag arrested a man in his thirties during a security
campaign against drug trafficking in Sohag markaz, the district around Sohag
city.[1] He was 30 years old, unemployed and living in Rawafi al-Qasir
village.[1] Detectives had been monitoring his activity in promoting drugs in
the village before the raid.[2] The raid followed authorisation from the
Public Prosecution and targeted his home.[2] He was identified by the initials
D. A.[1]
Police found 139 rolls of shabu, a methamphetamine, weighing about one kilogram,
and five slabs of hashish in his possession.[1] The 139 shabu rolls were
prepared for sale.[2] They also seized a locally made gun, ammunition, a
precision scale and cash.[1]
Lt. Col. Ahmed al-Omda, head of the Sohag police station’s investigations unit,
led the raid with Captains Mohamed al-Khatib and Mustafa Qureishi.[1] The man
was detained and referred to the Public Prosecution after the case file was
drawn up.[2]

- Neither report gives the date of the raid or arrest; 31 October 2026 is the publication date of both accounts.
- No weight was given for the five hashish slabs; the one-kilogram figure refers to the shabu, not the hashish.
- No charge, court date or outcome was reported after the man was referred to the Public Prosecution.
- The two accounts share the police statement's wording and add little independent detail.
- Cairo24's only picture is a generic 'security campaign' image, and no picture could be verified as showing this raid, so no photo is linked.
