Three arrested after video of hashish smoking in Alexandria street
Egypt's Interior Ministry said police arrested two men filmed smoking hashish in an Alexandria street — a company employee and a delivery worker — and then detained the unemployed man they named as their supplier. Hashish was found with the employee and with the supplier, who admitted holding it for sale; prosecutors are investigating.

The case began with a social-media post, backed by a video, in which the person
who published it complained about two men, one of them riding a motorcycle,
using drugs on a street in Alexandria.[1] Egypt’s Interior Ministry said its
security services identified and arrested the pair and seized the motorcycle,
which had valid licence plates.[2] The two were a company employee and a
delivery worker, both living in Alexandria Governorate.[2]
Hashish was found with the employee.[2] Questioned, the two admitted the
offence and said they held the drugs to use them.[2] The employee said he had
obtained the hashish from an unemployed man with a criminal record living in the
First Montazah police district, and police arrested that man.[2]
The ministry said no reports had been filed about the incident before the video
spread online.[2] The public prosecution has taken over the investigation.[1]
