San Luis Potosí’s Guardia Civil Estatal (GCE), the state civil guard, detained 34 people in recent hours for their alleged involvement in various criminal acts.[1] The detentions were linked to alleged offences including possession of drugs, robbery, carrying a prohibited weapon, offences against traffic safety, family violence, driving a vehicle with a theft report and dangerous assault.[1] Those detained were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities for the corresponding investigations.[1]

During the same interventions, the force recovered a vehicle with a theft report and seized 996.3 grams of marijuana.[1] The same operation also secured 436 doses of methamphetamine, 110 doses of cocaine and 41 doses of crack, along with 10 metal artefacts known as “ponchallantas”; only the separately stated marijuana weight is counted as cannabis here.[1]

The state Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection said it would maintain operational presence and prevention work in the state’s four regions through permanent actions to protect the safety and property of families in San Luis Potosí.[1]
