Officers of San Luis Potosí’s State Civil Guard (GCE), working with the army, detained Francisco “N”, 27, and Esmeralda “N”, 26, in the centre of San Vicente Tancuayalab.[1] The pair were identified as suspected priority targets from intelligence information.[1] Investigators said they were linked to drug distribution and halconeo, or lookout work, at sales points in Tamuín, San Vicente Tancuayalab and Tanquián de Escobedo.[1]

Officers seized 100 bags of marijuana weighing 758.3 grams.[1] They also found 42 packages holding 84 marijuana cigarettes.[1] With them were a portable radio, two mobile phones and the motorcycle the pair were riding.[2] The rest of the haul was 401 doses of cristal, 40 doses of piedra and 50 doses of a substance with cocaine characteristics.[2] Pulso SLP said the official breakdown added doses, bags and cigarettes to 675 units of drugs.[3]

Jesús Juárez Hernández, head of the state Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), said municipal authorities were failing at prevention, surveillance and fighting crime.[1] He said state and federal forces therefore intervene with coordinated operations.[1] The SSPC did not name the criminal group it links to the pair.[3] The two and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, which are to continue the investigation and determine their legal situation.[4]
