Detectives of Chile’s Investigative Police (PDI) detained a 38-year-old man for alleged drug-law offences after uncovering cannabis at a home in the Orilla de Maule sector of the commune of San Javier.[1] Officers said the detained man was the resident of the searched home, a 38-year-old Chilean national.[1] On instructions from the San Javier local prosecutor, he was placed at the disposal of the Guarantee Court for a detention-control hearing.[2]
The operation was handled by the Modelo Territorial Cero (MT-0) team of San Javier’s Criminal Investigation Brigade (BICRIM), the PDI’s local detective unit for territorial drug enforcement.[1] It started from information received through Denuncia Seguro, the anonymous-reporting programme, which warned of a space fitted out for growing cannabis inside a dwelling.[1] Investigators treated the buried installation as a site intended for producing the drug.[2]
Detectives then entered and searched the property, finding a buried container equipped with a cannabis cultivation system.[2] In the same search, officers seized 729.27 grams of cannabis found loose and in portioned doses.[2]
