Investigators from Chile’s Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) detained one person in the Villa Bicentenario neighbourhood of Molina, in the Maule Region, during work by the Modelo Territorial Cero unit, known as MT-0.[1] Officers seized 2.23 grams of cannabis, 15.15 grams of cocaine base and 5,000 Chilean pesos in cash.[1] Detectives from the unit, which specialises in microtráfico, small-scale drug dealing, carried out the intervention.[1] Radio Ancoa, citing the same operation, also reported one person held and the same quantities of cannabis, cocaine base and cash.[2]
The accused was placed at the disposal of the Juzgado de Garantía de Molina, the local guarantee court, for a detention hearing at 09:00 on Friday 30 October 2026.[1] The earlier account said that hearing was set for 09:00 the next morning.[2] The PDI handed the seized substances to the Servicio de Salud del Maule, the regional health service.[1]
The MT-0 team is in Molina after steps by mayor Felipe Méndez to strengthen action against drug trafficking in the commune’s neighbourhoods.[1] A police communiqué described MT-0 as having been ranked in 2023 the most successful model in the world for fighting drug trafficking.[2] The model uses police intelligence and reports from residents to disrupt illicit sales points.[1] The PDI stressed that community complaints help such interventions take place.[2]
