Palmi traffic-police patrols intercepted a car travelling south at dangerous speed on the A2 del Mediterraneo and, after a pursuit, safely stopped it near the Rosarno motorway exit.[1] The driver was a visibly agitated young man of Cosenza origin who lives in Alessandria, whose behaviour led officers to search him and the vehicle.[1] Under the coordination of the Palmi prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested in flagrante for possession of drugs for dealing and taken to Palmi prison.[1]

The search found more than one kilogram of hashish divided into two blocks, packed and hidden inside the passenger compartment and the boot.[1] In the same search officers also seized more than 100 grams of cocaine and more than 2,000 euros in cash.[1] The regional forensic police laboratory in Reggio Calabria later confirmed the type of the seized substances.[1]

The operation was part of continuing heightened checks and surveillance along major Calabrian roads to ensure road safety for all users.[1] The case was in the preliminary-investigation phase, with the presumption of innocence applying until a final conviction.[1]
