Carabinieri from the Gandino station arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of possessing narcotic substances.[1] The operation took place on the afternoon of Saturday 31 October in Peia during a territorial control.[1] Officers stopped his car at about 2:20 p.m.[1] During the check the driver showed evident signs of nervousness and admitted keeping about 15 grams of hashish at his home.[1]
Officers accompanied him to the residence where he voluntarily handed over a packet containing a piece of hashish weighing 14.86 grams.[1] A search of the garage found two more pieces of hashish weighing 8.12 and 7.66 grams and a knife with evident traces of the same substance on the blade.[1] The garage also held 24 marijuana seeds and three small tin boxes containing a further 3.66 grams.[1] Officers then found a heat-sealed bag containing 70 grams of marijuana hidden in a cavity in the wall.[1] The total seizure was reported as about 30 grams of hashish and 74 grams of marijuana, plus the seeds.[1]
The Carabinieri treated the conduct as alleged unlawful production, trafficking and possession under Article 73 of Presidential Decree 309/1990.[1] After informing the Bergamo Public Prosecutor’s Office, the prosecutor ordered the arrest at 3:10 p.m. on 31 October.[1] The man was then held in the Clusone Carabinieri Company lock-up pending a fast-track hearing before the Bergamo court scheduled for 2 November.[1]
