Kothapalli police arrested two men who were selling ganja and sent them to remand.[1][2][3] Police identified them as Mohammed Munna and Mohammed Sharuk of Shekhabi Colony in Rekurthi.[1][3] Police said the pair had for some time been buying ganja cheaply in Maharashtra and other states and bringing it to Karimnagar.[1][2][3]

Police said they repacked the ganja into small packets and sold it at high prices to students and others for illegal profit.[1] About 15 days earlier the men went to Nagpur in Maharashtra and bought 2.2 kg of ganja at Rs 20,000 per kg from unidentified persons.[1][2] They brought it to Rekurthi and prepared to sell it at Rs 50,000 per kg.[1][3] Kothapalli Sub-Inspector Sambamurthy and his staff spotted them carrying ganja along the canal near Sammakka Gaddela while on patrol.[1][2]

The men tried to flee on seeing police but were caught and searched, and officers found 2.2 kg of ganja in their bag.[1][3] Officers conducted a panchanama before witnesses and seized the ganja along with cell phones.[1][2][3] A case was registered at Kothapalli police station and the accused were remanded after arrest, according to SHO Billa Koteshwar.[1][2][3]
