Madan police arrested 50-year-old Md Golap Mia with 500 grams of ganja in Netrokona.[1] The arrest took place at around 9:30 pm on Sunday, 1 November, in the Jahangirpur Mitali Road area of Ward 7, Madan Municipality.[1] The arrested man is a tenant resident of that area.[1] Two other men, Enamul Haque and Bajlu Mia, fled the scene and remain fugitives.[1] The arrested accused was being sent to court.[1]
The raid was carried out by a Madan police team led by Sub-Inspector Hasanur Rahman on secret information.[1] Three people tried to flee when they noticed the police, and officers detained one of them.[1] A body search recovered 69 packets weighing 440 grams from a white plastic bag plus another 60 grams wrapped in polythene, totalling 500 grams of ganja.[1] Police put the seized ganja’s estimated market value at 15,000 taka.[1] Officers also seized 7,000 taka in alleged ganja-sale proceeds from him.[1]
Madan police chief Salah Uddin said a case was filed against the arrested man under section 19(a) of Table 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, and against the two fugitives under section 41 of the same law.[1]
